Premier Spanish drum & bass imprint South Yard present South Yard & Friends Vol.3, the latest instalment of their compilation series.
Featuring tunes from label regulars Kursiva, Change of Pace and more, South Yard & Friends Vol.3 will capture the minds of existing fans and serve as an introduction to those unfamiliar with the exciting drum & bass coming out of Spain right now.
Opening South Yard & Friends Vol.3 is Kursiva’s ‘Blockchain’, a track defined by thick slabs of bass
enveloped in brain-expanding effects. ‘Chain Of Fools’ – produced by Khramer – is primed for the dancefloor with pitched down vocal samples, vibrant percussion and rave ready bleeps.
Frannabik’s ‘Jackson’ is armed with a warbling bass line, while ‘Bocadillo Riddim’ by Brian Brianstorm switches between dubwise keys and hard-line drum programming. Elsewhere, GPM’S ‘Popping Up’
submerges a patois vocal sample in distortion before dropping into a verse packed with clawing
basslines.
‘Underground’ by Kadilak is a charged-up banger; ‘Glory Dayz’ by Change of Pace leads with industrial bass blasts, and ‘Rumpus’ by Yakov skitters with spider-like lead riffs. Mugthe’s ‘Tell You’ is a lean slice of dark drum & bass. ‘Speaker Louis’ ‘Shatter’ is packed with mind-expanding melodies that expand over tight percussion, while State of Disorder & TKT provide groove after groove with ‘Absolute
Darkness’.
Debice comes through with ‘Forward Thought’, a progressive banger that features amorphous, twin lead patterns that harmonize and interchange at will. Jey Vinand’s ‘Alternate Universe’ deploys jet-
propellor synths, hyperspeed percussion and eerie vocal samples, closing out the record in style.
